Let's Talk About Secular Homeschooling
“You don’t have to homeschool like everyone else to do it well.”
Do you ever feel like homeschooling wasn’t really made for your family?
Like you’re constantly reinventing the wheel, questioning every step, just trying to make it work in a world that doesn’t quite reflect your values?
When we first started homeschooling our boys, we were firmly rooted in the religious world. Every part of our day — from curriculum to routine — was shaped by our faith. It worked… until it didn’t.

As our family grew and changed, so did our beliefs. And when we stepped into a more secular approach to homeschooling, it suddenly felt like we were starting from scratch. The catalogs I used to love, the support groups that once felt like home — they no longer fit. I had to look harder, dig deeper, and piece together a patchwork of resources to keep going.
Does that sound familiar?
The good news is, I found a way. We pulled together a secular curriculum that worked for us. We found online groups that offered real support. We tapped into public school resources where it made sense and started shaping an educational path that felt aligned, flexible, and whole. We’re hackschooling now — and honestly, we love it.
But wow… it’s been a journey.
And it shouldn’t be this hard.
That’s why I’m creating Melati Homeschooling — a growing community and resource hub for families who are homeschooling without religion. I want a space where we can share curriculum, offer encouragement, and show up as whole people — because our well-being matters just as much as our children's learning.
We’re not just homeschooling. We’re building a life. And we deserve support that truly fits.
If you’ve been craving a space that reflects your values and gives you real tools to thrive — I hope you’ll join me.
