Homeschool Parents Deserve Self-Care Too

"Tiny, intentional acts of care add up to something powerful—resilience, joy, and peace."

Hey friend. Let’s be real for a minute—just us here.

You’re juggling lesson plans, snack time, field trips (even if they’re just to the backyard), trying to remember what day it is, and keeping tiny humans fed and (mostly) clothed. Sound familiar? Yeah… me too.

We chose this homeschooling path with love and intention. But let’s be honest—sometimes, in the thick of it, it feels like we’re barely holding it together. I remember those days vividly. The endless mental to-do lists. The guilt whispering that I wasn’t doing enough. The exhaustion that settled deep in my bones. I felt like I had to be everything—teacher, cook, nurse, playmate, therapist—and somewhere along the way, the “me” part of the equation quietly disappeared.

And you know what? That’s not sustainable. It’s not healthy for us, and truthfully, it’s not even what’s best for our kids.

Because a burnt-out, frazzled parent can’t pour into their children with joy, creativity, or patience. Not for long anyway. And we deserve to feel joy and connection in this journey too—not just survival.

This isn’t about finding hours for spa days (although wouldn’t that be nice?). It’s about recognizing that self-care isn’t selfish. It’s foundational. It’s about tiny, intentional acts that remind us we matter, too.

Tiny Acts of Care

When I finally started giving myself permission to check in—really check in—I began to notice a shift. I had more patience. Our homeschool days felt calmer. I felt more grounded. Not because life got easier, but because I started tending to myself, not just everyone else.

That’s why I created something I wish I had back in those early, overwhelming days. It’s called Rooted and Rising: A Self-Care Workbook for Secular Homeschool Parents, and it’s totally free—my gift to you.

Inside, you’ll find:

🌿 A Life Inventory Check-In to see where you’re thriving and where you might need support.

🪞 Reflection Prompts that help you identify what’s quietly been draining you—and what might fill you up again.

✨ A Needs Map to track the areas calling out for attention, and why they matter to you.

🌀 Micro-Actions and Tiny Acts of Self-Care that are doable even on the busiest of days.

💭 Mindset Reframes that help quiet the guilt and comparison traps we all fall into.

📅 A gentle Monthly Self-Care Map to help you come back to yourself, season after season.

This workbook isn’t another thing for your to-do list. It’s an invitation to pause. To breathe. To honor the fact that you’re a human being with needs, dreams, and limits.

Because here’s the truth: You are doing an incredible job. You’re showing up, day after day, with love and intention—and that matters more than you know. But you don’t have to do it all on empty. You deserve space to rest, to reconnect with yourself, and to rise with resilience.

Let this be your reminder: You’re not alone. You’re not doing it wrong. You’re just a parent learning and growing right alongside your kids. And that’s a beautiful, brave thing.

I hope this little workbook helps you feel more supported, more seen, and more rooted in who you are—not just the roles you fill.

And if it resonates, I’d love to stay in touch. Join my weekly email newsletter for encouragement, practical tools, and real talk from a fellow parent who gets it. We’re in this together.
